How to export theme?

In case you need to save your theme for later use (for example, if you have reached the limit of 20 installed themes), you can export it. In the following tutorial, we will show you the way to do this.

Export themes

You can export a theme and download it to your computer if you want to:

• Work on it using a different theme editor
• Save it for later use if you've reached the limit of 20 installed themes

To export a theme:

1. From your Shopify admin, click Online Store, and then click Themes (or press G W T).
2. Find the theme you want to export, click on the ... button and click Download theme file:
   
   

The theme is sent to you in a zip file to the email associated with your staff account.

When you've successfully exported your theme, it's safe to delete it from your store.

Import themes

You can import a theme by uploading a zip file containing a theme. You might do this if you have:

• A downloaded theme which is not available in the Theme Store
• Previously exported a theme to your computer for editing

To import a theme:

1. From your Shopify admin, click Online Store, and then click Themes (or press G W T).
2. Click Upload a theme:
   
   
   
   
3. Click Choose File and select the .zip file containing theme you wish to upload from your computer.
   
   
   
   
4. Click Upload to upload the theme:

When you've successfully uploaded the theme, it will appear within your store's theme menu as an unpublished theme.
